SLTATC Multicultural Advisory Committee

With open-entry enrollment, flexible hours, affordable tuition, individualized training and a competency-based curriculum, the Salt Lake • Tooele Applied Technology College has unique capacities to meet the needs of non-traditional students. The Multicultural Advisory Committee helps the College develop programs, services, and approaches that are of maximum benefit to the College's diverse student community. By building partnerships with members of different ethnic and service organizations, the SLTATC Multicultural Advisory Committee seeks to raise awareness of the resources that the College has to offer as well as assist in meeting the needs of the College's current and prospective multicultural student population. 

Mission Statement
The mission of the SLTATC Multicultural Advisory Committee is to foster appreciation and  understanding for the region's multicultural and diverse populations through recommendations made to  the Salt Lake • Tooele Applied Technology College Campus President on the following matters:

  • Promote culturally sensitive approaches in student recruitment and retention.
  • Assist in expanding employment opportunities for the SLTATC student body.
  • Contribute in the multicultural professional development of the SLTATC staff.

Committee Organization
The Multicultural Advisory Committee is made up of state, regional, and community volunteer representatives. The SLTATC Multicultural Advisory Committee includes three subcommittees created to achieve the goals of its mission. Those subcommittees are:

  • Student Recruitment Subcommittee
    • This subcommittee, in collaboration with the SLTATC Marketing Office, will promote a culturally-sensitive approach in student recruitment activities.
  • Student Retention and Cultural Sensitivity Training Subcommittee
    • In collaboration with the SLTATC Administration and Student Services, this subcommittee will contribute in the multicultural professional development of the SLTATC staff to address student retention for successful completion of training programs.
  • Student Employment Opportunity Subcommittee
    • This subcommittee collaborates with the SLTATC Student Services Placement Specialist to assist in expanding employment opportunities for the SLTATC student body.

Bylaws
The Multicultural Advisory Committee is governed by bylaws which are intended to facilitate the orderly function of the Committee in the discharge of its authority and responsibilities for the benefit of SLTATC programs and services to the community.
