Utah College of Applied Technology

In 2001, the Utah Legislature brought together nine Applied Technology Centers and Service Regions, located throughout the State, to form Utah's tenth public institution of higher education – the Utah College of Applied Technology, or UCAT.

UCAT is comprised of eight campuses, united in purpose to provide focused, flexible, affordable career and technical education across the State. Serving both high school and adult students, UCAT is a unique institution that offers open-entry, open-exit, competency-based education at the most affordable price possible.

Many UCAT campuses hold special accreditation and/or recognition and certification for the programs they offer. These programs are developed with the help of industry representatives in order to prepare students for the constantly changing workplace of today. UCAT also works with other institutions and businesses to ensure the use of the best resources available. The Utah College of Applied Technology is governed by the Utah Board of Regents and is directed by a Board of Trustees drawn from the fields of education, government, and business.
