Course Description
This is the first part of a three course series. This part focuses on electrical principles, basic circuits and electrical components, meter usage, and general electrical diagnosis. This course teaches detailed training in all aspects of automotive electricity and electronics. Instruction is given in electrical theory, Ohms law, troubleshooting, diagnosis, and functions of all automotive electrical/electronic systems.
This course conforms to ASE/NATEF standards.
Certificate
Completion of this course certifies proficient diagnostic and repair skills of automotive electronic systems based on a score of 80% or higher on competency exams. A Certificate of Technical Competency is available upon request. This course, when taken with Electrical / Electronic Systems I & II, will also prepare you to take the ASE Electrical/Electronics Systems Certification Test.

This is a competency-based course offered in open-entry/open-exit format.
Course Length
The estimated length of this course is 60 hours.
Actual course length will depend upon your schedule and your ability to master the subject material.
Specific Course Admission Requirements
Electrical / Electronics Systems I and II or equivalent competencies should be completed prior to taking this course. Also, courses in the Transportation Technology Programs are to be taken in order. The course list can be found on the information sheet for each program or by contacting Student Services.

West Valley Training Center: 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday - Thursday,
8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Friday
Tuition and Fees
Tuition is based on the number of enrolled classroom hours. High school students are exempt from tuition, but are responsible for course and program fees and the cost of textbooks.
