Bookstore Use
The purpose of the bookstore is to provide convenient access to new textbooks and materials for students in conjunction with their courses at SLTATC.

Student & Instructor Guidelines:

  • Our posted prices include shipping and sales taxes.
  • Students may purchase their books and supplies anywhere they like, new or used. However, they bear the full responsibility to ensure they are buying the correct item.
  • If instructors find a source for books and supplies that is less expensive than our bookstore can sell them they should 1) Notify Accounting to prevent over-stocking and 2) Inform students. Sponsored students should coordinate with their sponsors on the purchase of items needed that we do not carry. Special orders for students will only be allowed in extreme cases where there is no other way a student can obtain the books and they are deemed necessary for the student by the Instructor and Program Manager. If a student wants a sponsor to pay for special items, it is strictly between the student and their sponsor.
  • Instructors may suggest books to students, but that suggestion should not infer that they can purchase them through the bookstore.
  • If an instructor wants to use a new, different, or additional textbook they should discuss it with their program manager who will in turn update the course proposal and discuss the matter with finance. If a change in textbook is deemed to be appropriate, a change date will be established with finance that allows current students to continue & finish using the old books, the bookstore to liquidate the older books, and time to bring in the new book. Ideally the change should be done with enough forethought so the new books are on hand before the curriculum change.
  • The number of books in stock is limited due to the frequency of textbook updates. When a book is no longer being used, the bookstore will attempt to get rid of all leftover copies at the best price possible. Any losses will be charged to the program that the book was purchased for.

Bookstore Return Policy
Purchases may be returned only if the item meets all of the following criteria:

  • Unopened and in original packing (packaging not damaged).
  • Unbroken spine (on books not packaged).

  • Brand new when purchased.
  • Returned within 7 business days of purchase.
  • Supply items such as stethoscopes, blood pressure cuffs, T-shirts, and sweat-shirts are not returnable.

Please Note: Bookstore refunds will take 3 to 4 weeks to process.
