Course Description
This course provides the fundamentals of beginning and tracking a patient record using both paper records and electronic medical record (EMR) software.
Certificate
Completion of this course certifies proficient patient record-keeping skills based on a score of 80% or higher on competency exams. A Certificate of Technical Competency is available upon request.

- Create paper patient charts
- Create electronic patient charts
- Schedule patient appointments on the computer

This is a competency-based course offered in open-entry/open-exit format.

There are no specific requirements to take this course. However, courses in the Health Care Technology Programs are to be taken in order. The course list can be found on the information sheet for each program or by contacting Student Services.

Tuition and Fees
Tuition is based on the number of enrolled classroom hours. High school students are exempt from tuition, but are responsible for course and program fees and the cost of textbooks.
