Course: Clinicals & Externships

Course Description
Clinicals, externships and internships are opportunities for students to demonstrate their administrative and clinical skills in a health care setting. In Health Care Technologies, Clinicals, externships and internships are required in many of the programs to provide students with the training and experience they need to meet industry requirements and pass certifications.

Certificate
Completion of these courses certify proficiency in the skills used in each field. A Certificate of Technical Competency is available upon request.

This course fulfills requirements for the following Programs:

  • Perform administrative procedures
  • Perform clinical procedures
  • Demonstrate the attributes of a medical professional in your program

Course Structure
These courses are competency-based are are offered in either open-entry/open-exit format or on defined schedules, depending on the specific area of study and what you and your instructor determine is best.

Course Length
Course length depends upon the specific area of study, your schedule, and your ability to master the subject material.

Specific Course Admission Requirements
These courses are meant to be completed after all other program coursework is completed. The course list and other program information can be found on the information sheet for each program or by contacting Student Services.

Course Location and Schedule
Health Care Technologies clinicals, externships, and internships are offered at various partner locations. Specific dates, times, and locations for your desired course are based on the decisions of both you and your instructor.

Tuition and Fees
Tuition is based on the number of enrolled classroom hours. High school students are exempt from tuition, but are responsible for course and program fees and the cost of textbooks. Please see the SLTATC Monthly Tuition and Fee Schedule or contact Student Services for current tuition and fee information.

This course does not have an individual course fee, but students ARE responsible for tuition and other program or registration fees. Please see the information sheet for your desired program for estimated total program tuition and fee costs.
