Course Description
Keyboarding I provides intensive skill building practice using drills and timed writings, which will help students increase speed and accuracy on a computer keyboard. The course also covers an introduction to the computer keyboard and keyboarding techniques.
Certificate Completion of this course certifies proficient keyboarding skills based on a keyboarding competency exam. A Certificate of Technical Competency is available upon request.
This course fulfills requirements for the Accounting Clerk, Business Administrative Support I & II, Customer Service, Front Office Support, Microsoft Office Specialist, and Medical Office Administration Programs.

Competencies (skills you will learn)
- Demonstrate ability to keyboard by touch
- Perform keyboarding rate of 40 nwpm on a 5-minute timed writing with correction allowed
Course Structure This is a competency-based course offered in open-entry/open-exit format.
Course Length The estimated length of this course is 60 hours. Actual course length will depend upon your schedule and your ability to master the subject material.
Specific Course Admission Requirements Students must have completed Keyboarding Basics or have equivalent competency (25 w.p.m. keyboarding ability) to take this course. Also, courses in the Business Technology Programs are to be taken in order. The course list can be found on the information sheet for each program or by contacting Student Services.

Tuition and Fees Tuition is based on the number of enrolled classroom hours. High school students are exempt from tuition, but are responsible for course and program fees and the cost of textbooks.
